Man-of-the-Match, Skipper Leon Johnson, returned to form with fifties in both innings to spearhead Guyana Jaguars to an emphatic seven-wicket victory against Jamaica Scorpions, 40-mininutes after Lunch on the fourth and final day of their seventh round CWI Regional First-Class yesterday at Providence.

The four-times defending champions, who move to 111.4 points from seven matches, began yesterday on 25 without loss, needing 145 to win and reached 171-3 from 43 overs to extend their lead in the six team tournament with three games to play.
The 31-year-old Johnson, Guyana’s successful First-Class Captain, reached the ropes 10 times and cleared it once in his fluent unbeaten 61 from 86 balls and 96 minutes. This was Johnson’s 35th fifty, third for the season and second in this game.
He shared an unfinished 78-run fourth wicket partnership with Vishaul Singh, whose undefeated 26 lasted 67 minutes, 57 balls, and included three fours.
The 25-year-old Chanderpaul Hemraj fell when eight short of his seventh fifty after facing just 29 balls in 50 minutes and dominated a 57-run opening stand with Jaguars leading run scorer Tagenarine Chanderpaul, who made 33 from 73 balls and 106 minutes to take his tally to 412.
Scores: Scorpions 358 & 132, Jaguars 321 & 171-3.
Watched by a spattering of spectators including die-hard fan Norman the ‘Juice Man’ who lends vocal support every Jaguars’ home game, Hemraj flayed Jerome Taylor for four in the first over of the day, which began 20 minutes late in overcast conditions.
Hemraj went after Taylor with another boundary in his next over on a docile track as a strong breeze blew across the Providence ground before depositing Derval Green for consecutive boundaries, the second going into the stand.
Hemraj latched onto Taylor and hammered him for four before left-arm back-of-the-hand spinner Dennis Bulli was introduced in the 10th over and started with five dot balls to a circumspect Chanderpaul who got a single off the last delivery.
But Hemraj was soon caught at gully by Jermaine Blackwood, diving to his left, as the left-hander got a thick outside edge; playing a defensive shot to Taylor, who made the breakthrough at 57-1 in the 11th over.
Chanderpaul spanked Bulli for a couple of boundaries in successive overs before Sherfane Rutherford (5) got going with a powerfully executed four after which he had his stumps disturbed by Green at 73-2.
Chanderpaul, who batted with more intent than in most of his previous innings, hit Green for four, while Johnson’s first boundary was a disdainful pull for six into the Green Stand over wide long-off as he looked back in top form following his hard half-century in the first innings.
Chanderpaul was LBW to off-spinner Kenroy Williams at 93-3 just before Lunch which was taken at 102-3.
After the interval, Johnson dumped Williams for fours before stroking Bulli for successive boundaries, while Singh stroked Bulli for four as the partnership progressed nicely.
A boundary by Johnson off Williams took the score to 149 before a scampered single from Singh saw the 150 posted.
Johnson finished off the match with three boundaries off Williams the last one being a half pull, half sweep which raced to the backward square boundary on the slowish outfield caused by rain.
The Jaguars, who drew the bye in the next round, return to action from February 21-24 when the face-off with the Scorpions at Sabina Park in Jamaica.
