On Thursday, Thanksgiving was celebrated in America, and in some other nations, when people took the opportunity to say thanks to God for his goodness to them, and their loved ones over the past year. Such bold expressions of love will no doubt warm the heart of our loving God towards his people. However my concerns are for those who never stop to say thanks to God or to those who have served them well.
I speak of those who have eat the bread of ingratitude. Individuals who will go into restaurants and fail to give tips to the underpaid workers, some others who will forget their parents in nursing homes, and those who will ignore people who have opened doors for them, that lead to a better life.
I am appalled, whenever I see such behaviours coming from individuals, who I think should know better. This is exactly how I view some Guyanese who have been attacking the three-year-old David Granger-led government in Guyana. Some of the nasty comments directed against Mr Granger and his cabinet by these individuals give the impression that they have being doing worse than their predecessors. However, a look at their list of achievements shows clearly that they have outperformed the PPPC, and in the short time they have been in government, seem to have put Guyana back on the course of good governance.
How can those who claim to be concerned about the people, and for workers’ rights, be so ungrateful? I know that there are a few in the government that have missed the mark ,and that the task of bringing the nation back from where it was taken by those self-serving, greedy politicians who went before the coalition, is a painful and frustrating one to all of us. Nevertheless, if there is any decency in us as a people, let us show gratitude to those that serve so well, and not just be eager to find and expose their faults.
Finally, I say thanks to God ,to the President of Guyana , his cabinet, and the public servants who served well, for a job well done over the past few years. May God continue to bless and keep you Guyana.
Apostle Adrian Wade
