– Insufficient evidence
Former Lance Corporal, Jamal Hazel, was yesterday freed of all charges by Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman, after the Prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence.
Hazel was accused of being in possession of an illegal .380 pistol and nine matching rounds of ammunition.
The charges against Hazel read that on January 13, last at Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown he had in his possession nine rounds of .380 ammunition, and on the said date and the said location, he also had in his possession a .380 pistol, without being the holder of a valid firearms license.
Hazel was also charged earlier for a series of robberies/. He was accused of trailing victims on a motorbike; however these matters were also dismissed as a result of lack of evidence being offered by the virtual complainant.
