DEAR EDITOR,
Last Sunday morning at about 05:15hrs, my wife and I went to La Penitence Market to shop vegetables and fruits. I drove out of Diamond Housing Scheme, on the East Bank of Demerara, through a heavy downpour, and between Fifth and Third Avenues on the access road, the area was flooded.
I stopped and had a good look at what could have been the cause – the canal to the northern side was reasonable, but on the southern side the construction by residents caused the road to flood – too high concreted shoulders and bridges, and blocked drainage.
On our way back, just to the front of the Guyana National Stadium, Providence was another cause for alarm, the sidewalk drainage outlets were all blocked and the rainwater flooded the eastern carriageway of the public road.
I am a responsible citizen making an appeal for one and all, could the relevant authorities clear the above blockages. ‘’Life is precious, save it.”
Yours Co-operatively,
Parmanand Ram
