Bodybuilding fans were given much to cheer about as Bodybuilders from several countries display fruits of their labour when the Stage of Champions three was held on Saturday night at Theatre Guild in Kingston. The beauty of a round in which the athletes challenged each other to specific poses to win points thus decided their own fate, created much excitement. After the athletes displayed their chiseled and well toned muscles in the various categories, it was Suriname’s Wendell Setropawiro who took the overall title.
It was the final event of the night which pits the winners from the various bodybuilding categories and after thrilling the fans, Setropawiro of Suriname who had definition and mass deservedly took the coveted title, while Guyanese Marlon Bennett, one of the crowd favourites, finished second. Third place went to Shawn Roberts of Suriname, Caipous Cipriani of Guyana was fourth and Jejpaul Sammy of Guyana fifth.
Jejpaul Sammy won the Bantamweight category, while fellow Guyanese Faraad Mohamed took second place followed by another Guyanese Jhan Sham Goberdan and Vrjas Mc Hutciverson of Trinidad and Tobago.
The top three spots in the Lightweight category were taken by Marlon Bennett, Donald Lindie and Darius Ramsammy in that order; all of Guyana. Carjous Cipriani of Guyana won the Welterweight segment, while his team mate Ravindra Persaud took the runner up spot.
The Men’s Physique was a close call, but it handed Guyana another gold as Emmerson Campbell took the top podium spot, while Rudolph Gerowcosta of Suriname placed second followed by Randal Haakmat of Suriname, Riandeno Josafaith of Suriname and Brendon Francis of Trinidad and Tobago in that order.
The Miss Bikini segment got the crowd on their feet and after going through their paces on stage, Stefini Tjon-A-San of Suriname took top honours, while Jawelle Singoojojo and Priscilla Calor both of Suriname placed second and third respectively; Melissa Seaforth of Antigua was fourth and Jennifer Gordon of Guyana was fifth.
Shawn Roberts of Suriname won the Light Middleweight segment, while Shimroon Sookermanny of Trindad and Tobago took the runner up spot.
Wendell Setropawiro of Suriname won the Heavyweight category, while Jermin Jones of Guyana placed second followed by Guyanese Carlos Petterson in third place and Desmond Patterson of St. Maarten in fourth.
