A double by Net Rockers’ Denzil Pryce in a 7-0 rout of Blueberry Hill United, was enough to place Net Rockers in the lead of the GTT 29017/18 Senior League football championship, while Amelia’s Ward Panthers continued their good showing with a 3-1 victory against Topp XX on Friday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club championship.
The win by Rockers placed them in the lead after being tied with Eagles United on 15 points, they now are on 18 from six wins, but Eagles United who will tonight seek to once again share the top of the points table with a win against Hi Stars from 21.00hrs, while the other game this evening at 19.00hrs is between Botafago and Silver Shattas at the tournament venue the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
The Rockers got off to a good start against an out of sorts Blueberry Hill United as Clarence Huggins netted an early 4th minute goal to send them up 1-0 and then it was 2-0 as Deshawn Joseph scored in the 16th minute of the first half, as they took a 2-0 lead to the break.
Five minutes after play resumed Deshawn Bobbsemple would send his team up with their fourth goal in the 61stminute and Denzil Pryce would get his first of two goals for the night and goal number five for the Rockers would come through Joel Isaacs in the 56th minute.
As the Wisrock-based side’s dominance continued, they would get their sixth goal through Pryce, his second, in the 65th minute before Leonard Wilson would seal the win with his 84thminute strike.
Game two on the night ended with Amelia’s Ward Panthers continuing their good run gaining their fourth win from six matches played when they stopped Topp XX 3-1. Keshawn Dey got the ball rolling for the Panthers as he scored in the 13thminute to give them that 1-0 advantage.
However, the game would remain like that until the 90th minute as play was about to end in regulation time in the 90th minute off the boot of Hosa Waddle and then as added on time was blown the third goal was scored through Kennard Fraser as the Panthers came away with another win and are no 13 points, trailing the Rockers and Eagles United in the championship race.
Come Wednesday it is Topp XX facing Winners Connection in game one and in the other Shattas versus Blueberry Hill.
