Suspected thief “Dumb boy” shot and killed on Vergenoegen poultry farm

Jarrel ”Dumb Boy” Noble, 22, an unemployed man of lot 12 Tuschen Tiger Bay, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation about 10:00 hours yesterday after he was shot by a security guard who found Noble on a poultry farm that the guard was supposed to be securing.
Police in a statement said they were investigating the shooting death of “Dumb Boy” after it was revealed that about 04:30 hours on Friday an armed security guard on duty at a Service Station at Vergenoegen, EBE was alerted that someone was seen in a yard that housed a poultry farm, at Line Top Vergenoegen.
This place is located in close proximity to where he was also responsible for securing. He responded and together with the poultry farmer who had reportedly seen the intruder on the premises via CCTV cameras.
On checking inside a building on the premises, it was alleged that the now deceased emerged from a room armed with a knife and attacked the security guard who discharged two rounds.
The police having been also been summoned and upon arrived on the scene, rushed the injured man to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where “Dumb Boy’ later succumbed to his injuries.
The security guard was taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation, while the firearm, a licensed shotgun, was lodged with police. Police added that the deceased was previously charged with Breaking and Enter and Larceny.
When Kaieteur News reached out to the relatives of “Dumb Boy” an aunt who was said to be visiting from overseas informed this news cast that “Dumb Boy” had a few brushes with the law, and she could not say what he was doing on the people’s property.
One of “Dumb Boy’s” sisters said, he was a little wayward and would leave home for long periods of time and go wandering.
Police investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage to put the pieces together with the hope of verifying the security guard’s account of what transpired on the poultry farm where “Dumb Boy” was shot.
