Music, Art and Culture festival – platform for local artists
Fourteen local visual artists, craftsmen and women and musicians set the Pan African Gardens, Merriman’s Mall alight with their artistic displays and music. They were participating in the Music, Art and Culture Foundation’s MAC festival.
Chairman of MAC, Sa-Ra explained that the initiative aimed to create a platform for up and coming artists to showcase their work and to “shed light on Guyana’s creativity” while attracting investors. Sa-Ra believes that the festival would nurture the local talent which has been untapped for years and his foundation will aid in cultivating a greater appreciation for this talent.
Besides the stunning artwork and craft on display, visitors were treated to performances by local artiste Lambi I (formerly from the group First Born) with his band Hard Stone.
Established in 2015 the Music, Art and Culture Foundation has been working to ensure that there is an avenue for local artists and artistes alike to succeed.
