Dear Editor,
I refer to the recent statements and allegations made in the Kaieteur News on July 3rd and 8th and certain television news broadcast, much of which is erroneous, on the incident occurring on the Georgetown-Lethem Road relating to Shawhimshaw Ally (Imty), deceased.
Imty worked in my business for a number of years and has earned my respect for his competence, disciplined and diligent disposition towards his work. Within the Takutu organization, we will also miss him for his respectful, generous and willing attitude towards Management and his work colleagues. We deeply regret his unfortunate demise and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
While at this time emotions are high, understandably, we simply ask that there be pursuit of truth in the circumstances of the incident and Imty’s demise. There was no explosion of fuel truck as is alleged, and Imty was questioned by the police on the incident at the Mabura Hill health centre, Linden Hospital and at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
I have cooperated fully with the Police in providing information on what occurred, having been present, and having given the names of other eye witnesses.
Myself and family have known, and have had a very good relationship with Imty’s family for many years. We have been by their side in this ordeal and will continue to be supportive of his wife (Menawattie Singh) and children.
Sincerely,
Marlon Johnson

(Kaieteur News) – It is why I like these swashbucklers operating out of Spring, Texas. They know how to keep others on their toes, and to lull their partners in host counties to sleep.
