Oct 23, 2017 Letters
Dear Editor,
I am happy to say that just two days after a letter titled “Police lawlessness daily on the harbour bridge” was published in your newspaper on the 17th October, 2017, the situation is much different. In the recent letter it was noted that several vehicles persons are being allowed by the police to skip the traffic lines to the harbour bridge by driving in the incorrect lane.
On Thursday 19th October, 2017, as I was in the line, not a single vehicle was allowed to pass illegally, instead the police officers were stopping the vehicles and sending them back to join the line. The time that persons within the line normally take to get onto the bridge was reduced significantly.
I am very satisfied with the response from the respective police officers, and I hope that this will continue to be the new norm from now onwards. With just a little change in behaviour I am sure that the majority of commuters would have had a much more pleasant morning.
