Dear Editor,
Upon reading an article in your letter section of your 11/10/2017 edition “Region Ten Lacks Dedicated, Nationalists Leadership’, it brings to light the very thing that disgust me and many others in this Town.
Everyone went far and beyond to elect a new government especially Mr. Sharma and the young and not so young people of this community. And not leaving out our young parliamentarian Mr. Figueiara who is working assiduously to build our community. It is with grave concern the people who were elected I must say were put there thinks as if there is a thirst for power and money which are clouding their judgment of not seeing the real problems that lie ahead. Those at the helm of this party in the region have no concern as it relates to the needs of the ordinary citizen.
I would like to ask where were they when the struggle was on and persons were killed and locked up. But suddenly they raise their opportunistic heads and the president for some reason I cannot understand choose these persons to lead this community. Many times activities are being organized and conducted and only a very small percent who are their friends will say they are satisfied. But come next election period then is where they are going to try and reach the populace.
I agree you cannot please 100% of a nation but with trying to reach out to your supporters in every way possible will bring you points in any democracy. This is not democracy that they are exercising; this in minority power couple with greed.
These very people conjure up wrong-doing against the Regional Executive Officer of this Region all in the name of spite because they cannot get him to bend backward to please them the way they are demanding. They have a secret group that meets to have what they want but the REO is rock solid on his decisions and will not compromise his God given wisdom for bribery.
We the citizens are seeing and hearing many things but for the fear of victimization many do not speak out or make comments where necessary. What Mr.Figueira did is because he knows what is going on and will like to see this government have a second term. In order to do that he needs to strengthen the constituency since this was the one that cause the change of government and all members of the cabinet and government should place more emphasis in this region and the rest will follow. You do not threat your main support base like that; the failure is in the leaders of this region.
