GFF facilitates 38 transfers in recent window
The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) facilitated 33 transfers during the last transfer, 1st June – 31st July, 2017, including five (5) International Transfers. Among the international transfers were Lloyd Matthews and Denzil Crawford from the Grenades FC (Antigua and Barbuda) to Grove Hi-Tech FC, Murilo R. Barbosa from Slingerz FC to Caledonia AIA FC (Trinidad and Tobago), Colwyn Adams from Caledonia AIA to Slingerz FC and Ralph Parris from Georgetown FC to Caledonia AIA.
The period also saw 23 players transferred out of Elite League Clubs and six players transferred into these Clubs. Additionally, two (2) transfers were facilitated by the East Bank Football Association (EBFA), 16 by the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) and 15 by the Rupununi Football Association (RFA). The other RMAs reported no transfer activity for the pre-season.
In an invited comment, Competitions Director of the GFF, Ian Alves said the transfer period saw movement among clubs at both of the Elite and Association levels: “The 2017 pre-season transfer period reflected the usual trend of the late rush by clubs and players to complete transfers at the last minute, notwithstanding the notice being given at the very early stages of the two-month transfer window.
There was a greater number of transfers to and from Elite League Clubs as compared to the number of transfers between Regional Member Association clubs. There was also movement of Elite League players to RMA clubs as well as an influx of new players to Elite League Clubs. Taken at face value, the transfers conducted should foster a more competitive climate amongst clubs for the upcoming season, which the football fraternity is looking forward to.”
The transfers enable the respective clubs to prepare for the tournaments nation-wide and the third season of the Elite League, which is scheduled to commence in the latter half of the year. (GFF)
