Guyana born Delroy Tyrrell will represent Trinidad and Tobago at the Carifta Swimming championships
to be held in Bahamas from April 14 to 19. Tyrrell achieved this feat after participating in the National Age Group Long Course Championship held at the National Aquatic Centre, Couva Trinidad.
The ASATT sponsored meet took place from March 15-19.
Competing in the boys 13-14 age group, Delroy swam a best time in the 200 backstroke of 2:26.99 seconds, achieving the qualifying mark and was the only boy in his age group to acquire a 200 backstroke time. He also achieved a 50m fly qualifying time, clocking 28.32 sec.
Delroy also narrowly missed the 100 backstroke time with a personal best of 107.74. He copped the third place high point trophy.
Tyrrell, who represented T&T at four consecutive Goodwill Championships, is coached by veteran coach Hazel Haynes, CEO and founder of Tidal Wave Aquatics of Trinidad and Tobago.
