The police have rearrested a man suspected to be involved in the murder of an elderly Hopetown woman in 2015.
He made an appearance in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court yesterday, and is scheduled to return on February 22, for the commencement of the Preliminary Inquiry (PI).
Devon Griffith, 25, also known as Two-kick, of Cemetery Road, Hopetown, West Coast Berbice, was arrested and charged for the murder of Vida Britton at her son’s residence, Main Street, Hopetown , where she was staying in 2015. It is believed that the woman was also sexually assaulted.
The PI had commenced in the Magistrate’s Court, but Griffith was discharged because of insufficient evidence.
At the time of his arrest the accused had two wounding matters before the court. It has been reported that Griffith is a known drug adict, and is frequently involved in brawls.
