Ansa McAl through its Stag beer brand has thrown its support behind the Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) for the hosting of its sixth edition of the Guyana Softball Cup.
The entity assured its commitment for the tournament at a ceremony held at its office in Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara. Stag Beer brand coordinator Lindon Henry said they are happy to be part of such a prestigious tournament and urged the fans to come out and support their favourite teams.
The tournament commences on November 4 at several venues in the city and culminates two days later at the Demerara Cricket Club. It will be contested in the Open and Masters’ categories. There will also be three female 10/10 exhibition games on November 6 featuring Blue Divas, 4R Lioness, Trophy Stall Angels and Mike’s Wellwoman.
Jailall Deodass, the first vice president of the GFSCA, said they are happy to partner with Stag Beer once again and the tournament is expected to be keenly contested since the leading teams from Guyana and North America will participate.
He informed that while admission to the venues for the preliminary games is free, tickets for the final will cost $1,000. He related that there will be lots of prizes including a trip for two to several tourism destinations locally are to be won by lucky fans.
Ricky Deonarain of the GFSCA stated that a carnival like atmosphere is expected for the finals which will start at 11:00hrs, while President of the GFSCA Ramchand Ragbeer expressed gratitude to Stag Beer for the being one of the major sponsors. (Zaheer Mohamed)
