Dear Editor;
I am writing this letter so that the Chairman and councilors of the BV/Triumph NDC will act on the concerns described below. I am a very concerned villager. It is now five (5) months since the Local Government Elections (LGE) were held, of which your group (The Beterverwagting/Triumph 8th of May Village Movement) won twelve (12) out of eighteen (18) seats.
To date, we, the villagers who voted for the group have not seen or heard of any positive development in the neighbourhood. During the campaign, you and your membership (The Beterverwagting/Triumph 8th of May Village Movement) paid us regular visits and made lots of promises. Now that you have won the elections, it is impossible to see you and/or your councilors.
However, it is encouraging to see the People Progressive Party (P.P.P.) councilors at work in their district (Triumph). What has happened to Beterverwagting (B.V.)? Where are our councilors? Should you walk around B.V. you would see the following:
1. The deplorable state of Quamina Road. This road along, with Canterbury Walk, is in need of street lights, especially in the vicinity of the cemetery.
2. The clogged Baron Canal.
3. The high bushes at the side of the roads.
4. Mocha-Mocha bush (approximately 8ft tall) along the Side Line Dam.
5. The deplorable state of the playground.
6. The Youth Choice Building still in a shameful state.
7. The seawall reserve has become on official dumpsite.
Mr Chairman, we voted for you and the Beterverwagting/Triumph 8th of May Village Movement, because we thought that the group had the ability to restore our village to what it was. It is in a worst condition now. We wanted someone to work with us, so as to restore our village. The residents are looking forward to a better and healthier community. What we do not need is impossible demands, by the N.D.C. on sweet stall vendors (fee of $3,000 per week).
Mr Chairman what is the position with The Beterverwagting/Triumph 8th of May Village Movement? Is it still alive or was it just active for the LGE? We need the President, Ministers and other government officials to visit the district urgently, so that a way forward can be arrived at for our community.
Mr Chairman

What a shame! What a big shame!! Finally, why was a certain person given another contract to clean the canals? There are three (3) reasons he should not have been given such a contract.
1. He is not permanently residing in Guyana.
2. He cannot supervise what he does not know about.
3. There is no functioning Community Development Council (C.D.C.) in B.V.
Concerned Resident
