Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan heard two new drug trafficking cases, yesterday, in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. In one of the cases she remanded the defendant, while in the other the defendant was granted bail.
Bartholomew Harry, 47, of Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the allegation which stated that on June 22, at Norton Street, he had 3.82kg of cannabis sativa (marijuana) in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Levi Chase was released on $75,000 bail after he was accused of having 20 grams of cannabis sativa in his possession for the purpose of trafficking also on June 22.
Chase, a labourer, of Lot 26 Norton Street, Wortmanville, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Prosecutor, Neville Jeffers, told the court that analyst reports are still outstanding from the police file in relation to both matters.
Harry, a goldminer, was remanded to prison and instructed to return to court on July 14; while Chase will return to court on July 11. Both matters will be called again for reports and fixtures.
