Dear Editor
We are presently experience an extremely hot season and many people are taking this opportunity to burn bushes around the areas. Even to farmers are clearing areas and burning, and in some cases it becomes uncontrollable like what happened at Harlem and Crane on the West Coast of Demeara last week which causes the fire service to be called in. Editor, during last week also someone lit a fire at Bushy Park, Parika last week and the fire could not be controlled thus, the bamboos growing there started to burn and two fire tenders had to stop the fire. For the past few days from where I am living, the sirens for the fire trucks could be heard regularly (more than normal which is strange) and I assume that they are going to put out some fire. From all indications, the fires always could get out of control. Because of this hot season, it is proving to be dangerous so I am urging all to be cautious and keep a close eyes on their children, especially those who like playing with fire before we have to feel sorry as is the case where a family lost their house in less than twenty minutes at Stewartville yesterday morning.
