An autopsy performed on the body of 17-year-old Davykumarie Ramadar, has turned up inconclusive. The body was discovered on the La Jalousie foreshore, Saturday.
The post mortem, which was done by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh in the Ezekiel Funeral home mortuary, was conducted yesterday afternoon.
Samples from the body have been taken to facilitate further testing to determine the cause of death. The funeral is nevertheless scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, at the Ruimzeight crematorium.
Ramadar of lot 59 Bella Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, partially nude and decomposed body; was discovered on the Blankenburg foreshore last Saturday.
The teen had been reported missing since April 4. According to reports, persons were passing on the seawall at approximately 14:30 hours when they detected a foul odor.
The mother of the teen, Jajranie Omadat, was grief stricken after the discovery. She tried to make sense of what had happened.
“She left Saturday morning to go to work and she kiss she brother and she gone. And then she call me and tell me she going to town to get this bag and bring home. But I didn’t know she had any problems at her work place.
“When me reach home, Samantha (a co-worker of the teen) call me and tell me how she had problems.”
According to the mother, she was told that Ramadar had problems with her boss and someone named ‘Raj’. She said she was told that her daughter had just left the store and that she should try to contact her.
Omadat said that she immediately tried calling her daughter and eventually reached her, who told her not to panic.
“She say ‘Mommy, Don’t go to de station, don’t go nowhere, I am going to come home. She will look for some work at Diamond. Richard (her friend) carrying she to look for some work, then she will come home. And that was it.”
At the time the teen left her home on Saturday, she was reportedly dressed in a mauve-coloured top, blue jeans, silver slippers and a brown bag.
When the body was recovered, she was dressed only in her top, along with a few items of jewelry. Her jeans, bag and cell phone were nowhere to be found.
A video recording, made on the very day she disappeared, recently surfaced. It showed 17-year-old Davykumarie Ramadar, with visible injuries, and complaining of being repeatedly beaten by her lover.
The video recording, viewed by Kaieteur News yesterday, was reportedly made at the victim’s place of employment, after she turned up at work with bruises on her neck.
Her colleagues subsequently used a mobile phone to record her speaking about her abusive relationship with an individual, whom she did not name.
But Ramadar, who was employed at Parsaram’s Discount Store on Water Street, spoke of not walking away from the abuse due to her love for the man.
Shortly afterwards, the girl was allegedly involved in a confrontation with one of the suspects now in custody, resulting in management firing both of them. It is then, according to reports, that she left the store with the intention of finding alternate employment in Diamond.
The police currently have the alleged boyfriend of the girl, as well as another male she is reported to have associated with, in custody.
