President Donald Ramotar
to rekindle interest in Guyana’s trading potential at a high level meeting between Heads of Government of the CARICOM member states and President of the USA, Barack Obama.
During a press conference held at the Office of the President, the Cabinet Secretary said that this approach is likely to be taken, considering that Guyana suffered a crucial blow due to the controversy that surrounded the Amaila Falls Hydro project which left its foreign investors with no choice but to stay clear of the fire and walk away.
The meeting is expected to take place on April 9, next, in Jamaica. The encounter is intended to further dialogue between CARICOM and the United States of America on trade and security and dealing with it from its respective mutual interests.
Following this meeting, the Heads of Government are expected to collectively participate in the two-day Seventh Summit of the Americas in Panama City from April 10.
