Ten days, eight teams, two Islands, one Champion. The 2015 NAGICO Super50 Regional one-day Franchise Cricket bowls off in the twin Island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago on Thursday and the Caribbean Super Station will bring the action live on Radio with ball-by-ball commentary on all of the matches.
Two matches will be played each day in the two zones and two sets of Radio teams have been set up to broadcast each match every day.
The Guyana Jaguars face the Windwards Islands Volcanoes on the opening day in one of two matches that day and the only day-night contest at the Queens Park Oval starting at 13:30 in the afternoon.
They then face the Barbados Pride in another Day-Night game at the same venue on January 17 before playing the CCC at the Queens Park Oval in their final preliminary round clash on January 19 under-lights.
The semi-finals are set for January 22 & 23, while the grand finale is fixed for January 25 at the Queens Park Oval culminating under lights.
Guyana’s Sean Devers, who will also file reports on the Guyana games for the Kaieteur News, will be one of the commentators in all of the Guyana matches.
Devers, who was out of action on the airwaves for the entire 2012 & 2013 due to a brain Surgery to remove a cancerous Tumor, will be joined by Grenadian Pastor Stephenson Worme and comments men former Guyana and West Indies fast bowler Colin Croft and ex T&T batsman Andre Lawrence for the first game.
Devers, a former Guyana off-spinner, will do the ball-by-ball commentary with lead Commentator Bajan Andrew Mason for the Jaguars/Barbados encounter with Croft and former Barbados and West Indies opener Philo Wallace doing the Comments men.
In the Jaguars final preliminary round match, Devers and former West Indies youth team Captain T&T’s Colin Murray will call the ball-by-ball play, while Croft & former First-Class player Hendy Wallace from Barbados do the Comments in the Jaguars against the Barbados based CCC.
Trinidadian Vidia Ramphal is the other ball-by-ball Commentator and the semi-finalist and finalist will determine who are on the Radio team for that phase of the tournament. ESPN will also carry the matches at the Queens Park Oval live on Television. Barbados are the defending Champions.
