Terrence Welch, the Dartmouth youth, who was severely beaten by angry Devonshire-Castle residents on Sunday, made an appearance in court on Thursday. Welch was charged for having in his possession a quantity of cannabis seeds, leaves and stems.
He appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce limping and was remanded.
Police alleged that Welch was discovered in the lands aback of Devonshire Castle with a bag containing marijuana. He was subsequently handed over to the police at Anna Regina after he was beaten by some Devonshire-Castle residents, who mistook him for a suspected rapist. Welch was hospitalized under police guard at the Suddie Public Hospital.
Meanwhile, several persons who were eventually apprehended for beating Welch will make an appearance at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
