(Kaieteur News) – Regional conglomerate ANSA McAL says Guyana delivered standout growth of 19.7% in the first half of 2026, contributing TT$490 million to the Group’s revenue and outperforming most of its other markets.
Announcing its financial results on Friday, the company said the performance reflects resilient operations across its portfolio and continued market confidence in the group’s strategic direction.
In its financial highlights, ANSA McAL reported that overall revenue rose 3% to TT$3.790 billion, up from TT$3.687 billion in the corresponding period last year, with growth recorded across every market except Barbados and the United States. Guyana was the standout performer, growing 19.7% to TT$490 million, compared to TT$410 million in 2025. Adjusted EBITDA rose 8% to TT$751 million, up from TT$696 million, while profit before tax from continuing operations climbed 25% to TT$401 million, compared to TT$322 million a year earlier. Earnings per share grew 50%, rising to TT$1.50 from TT$1.00.
By sector, the strongest contributions came from the beverage and financial services segments, while the services sector posted positive results bolstered by gains from strategic asset sales. Management said it continues to implement initiatives aimed at strengthening performance in the chemicals, distribution and automotive segments, which faced more challenging market conditions during the period.
The company also highlighted continued debt reduction and improved credit standing. ANSA McAL said it repaid TT$683 million in debt during the period, lowering its gearing ratio to 19.6% from 23.9% at the end of December 2025, and noted that the group remains comfortably within all of its debt covenants. That financial discipline was independently recognised when CariCRIS assigned ANSA McAL its inaugural issuer and corporate credit ratings — CariAA on the regional scale and ttAA on the Trinidad and Tobago national scale — both with a stable outlook, placing the company among the region’s most creditworthy.
The results follow the group’s announcement in May of company-wide Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets covering safety, waste management and renewable energy generation, which ANSA McAL said reflect its belief that sustainable business practices strengthen risk management, operational resilience and long-term competitiveness.
The company also pointed to a landmark financing arrangement with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), securing an investment of up to US$500 million — the largest commitment of its kind in the Caribbean. ANSA McAL said the partnership reflects international confidence in its strategy, balance sheet discipline and long-term growth prospects, and will support its investment programmes, regional expansion and sustainability initiatives.
Chairman Norman Sabga said the first-half results demonstrate the resilience of the group and continued market confidence in its direction. “Our financial strength, diversification, and disciplined execution remain defining characteristics of ANSA McAL and give us confidence in our ability to navigate uncertainty while continuing to create long term value for our stakeholders across the region,” he said.
