The relatives of a pregnant teenager, who has been missing for the past three weeks, are appealing to the public to assist in

Missing is Atisha Alleyne, 17, of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
According to the girl’s mother, Avionne Evelyn, her daughter left home on Emancipation Day to visit an aunt in a nearby village and hasn’t returned.
“She just left home and didn’t say anything except that she was going to visit her aunt at Vergenoegen but she never got there.” “We call her aunt but she said she didn’t see her,” Evelyn said.
The woman said that her daughter would usually leave the home, but would return days later.
“That‘s why it was strange to us, because she don’t stay so long from home and don’t tell nobody plus, she is pregnant; that makes it more worrying to us.”
Evelyn has since made several complaints at a number of police stations.
“I am just appealing to the public to assist us in locating my daughter. I have checked everywhere possible.”
At the time of her disappearance, Alleyne was clad in a brown skirt and yellow and white blouse. Ms. Evelyn says that her daughter is a quiet person.
“We don’t know what could have led to her disappearance because she doesn’t talk much. She don’t mix so we are worried because we don’t know who to ask about her whereabouts.”
