2014 Memorex Under-17 Cricket Competition in Berbice…
The 2014 Memorex Under-17 two innings club cricket competition in Berbice continued recently with Shawn Smith of Bush Lot New Generation and Guyana Under-17 Batsman Brandon Prashad of Rose Hall Town Bakewell hitting the first two centuries of the competition.
Smith opened the batting and slammed 113 not out (nineteen 4’s and two 6’s) to steer Bush Lot to 203 for 1 in their 1st innings against Blairmont Community Centre B. He featured in an opening stand of 64 with Kendy Dhanraj (37) and an unbroken second wicket partnership of 139 with Winston Joseph (44 not out).
When Blairmont B replied, they were bowled out for a paltry 63 in their first innings in the time available thanks to Guyana Under-15 Selectee, left arm spinner Kris Ramnarine who took 5 for 6 from 6 overs.
Prashad hit 117 (18 4’s & 1 six) to allow Rose Hall to declare their first innings at 186 for 6 against Big Star. He and Berbice Under-15 batsman Jason Sinclair (46) featuring in a third wicket stand of 147 after Rose Hall Town were 2 for 4. Big Star replied with 71 and following on 61 with former Berbice Under-15 off spinner Joshua Gobin picking up 5 for 12 and 2 for 7.
After Albion Community Centre bowled out Cheskoy for 85 in their first innings with former Berbice Under-15 left arm spinner Joshua Harrichand picking up 4 for 24 and Berbice Under-17 off spinner Asif Ally 3 for 20.
Albion, in their response rattled up a quick 171 for 4 declared with former Guyana Under-15 batsman Matthew Hardyal hitting 87.
Cheskoy were then bowled out for a mere 33 in their second innings with Ally taking 7 for 14 from 4.4 overs to end with match figures of 10 for 34.

Blairmont Community Centre B 1st innings 63 with Assad Ishawk 20, Kris Ramnarine 5 for 6, Winston Joseph 2 for 28.
At Ulverston, Rose Hall Town Bakewell beat Big Star by an innings and 54 runs.
Rose Hall Town Bakewell 1st innings 186 for 6 with Brandon Prashad 117, Junior Sinclair 46, Alvin Williams 2 for 31.
Big Star 1st innings 71 with Joshua Gobin 5 for 12, Azam Khan 2 for 12, Brandon Prashad 2 for 0 and 2nd innings 61 with Azam Khan 3 for 6, Joshua Gobin 2 for 7, Veramootoo Senwasane 2 for 24.
At Albion, Albion Community Centre beat Cheskoy by an innings and 53 runs.
Cheskoy 1st innings 85 with Kevin Nandram 27, Joshua Harrichand 4 for 24, Asif Ally 3 for 20, Guyana Under 15 Selectee Stephen Kamaludin 2 for 20 and 2nd innings 33 with Asif Ally 7 for 14.
