donation to the
SaraswatiVidyaNiketan, a not-for-profit secondary educational institution located at Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara.
The financial contribution is to help the school construct a science laboratory.
According to Swami Aksharananda, the Principal-Founder of the school 10 years ago, the entity began with 35 students and five teachers. It now has a 475-student population with 32 teachers.
The school has earned its place as a top secondary school in Guyana producing outstanding students at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examinations.
Last year one of its students, Rafena Mustapha, was awarded the CXC Caribbean Humanities Award, GT&T said in a release yesterday.
Swami Aksharananda said that in order to provide a more rounded education; the science component needs to be added to the school curriculum. The school is offering Science to a batch of students this year but there is need for a permanent Science Laboratory.
“GT&T has commended the efforts of the institution and is expressed satisfaction to aid in efforts to further boost the level of educational output.”
