A new charge has been brought against Lorenzo Forde, the teenager who was detained several weeks ago for the murder of Pegasus taxi driver, Rudranauth Jeeboo.
Yesterday, Forde reappeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged jointly with 21-year-old Shawn Edinboro for the offence.
The duo was not required to plead to the offence, which read that between December 27 and 28, 2013 at Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt, they murdered Jeeboo, a taxi driver attached to the Pegasus Hotel.
According to the details relating to the case, about 21:00 hours on December 27, 2013 Jeeboo left his Lot 25 Craig Street and Delph Avenue, Campbellville residence for work.
The following day, the body of the taxi driver was discovered in a pile of garbage at Cane View Avenue. Jeeboo had sustained several injuries about his body. Investigators checked the phone records of the deceased, which showed that his cellular phone which was stolen was still in use. It led them to Forde, who was later taken into police custody.
When the teenager was interrogated by the police he confessed that he and two others murdered the taxi driver, dumped his body and drove away with his car. He even took them to the spot where they dumped Jeeboo’s body.
The man’s car was reportedly discovered about 10:30 hours on December 28, last, abandoned at a road in Tucville Terrace with no number plates.
Police Prosecutor Steven Telford told the court yesterday that the number two accused, Edinboro, was arrested in relation to the crime after his finger prints were found on the interior of the car, which belonged to the taxi driver.
Telford revealed that the 21-year-old unemployed man, who resides at Parfaite Harmony, West Bank Demerara, has another pending murder matter at Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
Telford said the pending murder case at Sparendaam is alleged to have been committed prior to the murder of the Pegasus taxi driver. Telford said there are seven witnesses in the matter and the Prosecution is ready to commence the Preliminary Inquiry (PI). As such the matter has been adjourned to June 2 for commencement of the trial.
