Chico/K&S Secondary Schools Football…Two power matches heralds festive celebrations today
It’s the yuletide season but while the average citizen relaxes today and feast on the many treats that is synonymous to the joys of the season, players of 4 football teams are getting ready to excite their fans when action in the Chico/Kashif & Shanghai Secondary Schools Football Tournament continues at the Number 5 Village, Corentyne, Community Centre Ground, this afternoon.

College (PC) will be brimming with confidence when it faces Ash Education in the feature attraction of a potentially scorching double header while the opening encounter will see Bladen Hall Secondary locking horns with Ann’s Grove Secondary which should serve as the side dish to the main course.
Stedman Martin is the PC’s front man and he is a hard worker. One suspects, though, that he will be keenly watched by the opposition and he will be required to really pull off all the stops to have his own way. He will receive support from Von Harding and Yuon Armstrong whose dexterity has stood them in good stead in previous matches and should be a sure asset in today’s encounter.
Brother Abby is the Coach of the Ash Education squad and he said the PC is the least of his worries. The winner of this encounter will oppose Annandale Secondary tomorrow afternoon and already the Ash Education coach is looking ahead to that encounter. “We have a strong lineup and are least worried by the PC; rather, we are fixated on the Annandale encounter because that team is indeed a force to be reckoned with,” said Brother Abby. He said that he is banking on his captain, Kevin Layne who he described as a deadly midfielder. “We also have competent players, the likes of Atlin Browne, Gary Webster and Akimo Watts,” he said while adamantly stating that his team will beat PC.
Meanwhile, when the action resumes tomorrow afternoon at the Buxton Community Centre Ground, Wismar Secondary will oppose the winner of the Bladen Hall Secondary/Ann’s Grove Secondary encounter to support the Annandale/winner of Ash Education/PC encounter.
The action then returns to Georgetown, at the GFC Ground on Thursday when Waramadong Secondary play Charlestown Secondary at 15:00hrs followed by the feature match at 17:00hrs between St George’s and Mackenzie High School.
