If the ordinary man is asked to explain the spate of murders at this time he would say that people are just that bit more crazy. And he would be correct. The alignment of certain forces around is affecting the minds of those who are prone to worrying about everything.
This worry causes people to become impatient and intolerant. There will be individual clashes, many fatal. The police are going to shift resources to these areas. But as is always the case, some areas would be weakened and the cycle would continue.

The reluctance of nurses to work is going to take a toll on the sick. Although there are laws that prevent people in essential services from going on strike, the nurses get around by reporting sick. But there will be a lull when they collect their increased pay.
Things would get even better when the government announces a slightly higher pay increase.

Some young gunmen are going to strike at many locations in the city with the hope of getting money. However, the police with their extra mobility are going to respond with such alacrity that in one case they are going to nab a group in the act.
Many are going to find the holidays an enjoyable period because criminals would be kept at bay.
