Sunburst renew partnership with Camptown FC

…both entities committed to developing solid relationship

Continental Agencies Limited through its marquee brand, Sunburst Orange Juice, has recommitted itself to sponsoring Sunburst Camptown Football Club and yesterday at its Industrial Site Office, handed over a quantity of gear and other equipment to the club.
Handing over the items was Company Secretary, Continental Group of Companies, Percival Boyce Jr. to Club President, Attorney-at-Law James Bond in the presence of Honorary Secretary Ackram Sabree, Coach Joseph Wilson, Captain Travis Martin and staff of the sponsors.

Boyce in remarks said it was a pleasure on behalf of his CEO Mr. Rakesh Prui, Management and staff to rise to the occasion in support of Sunburst Camptown FC in their efforts, not only to maintain their sponsorship as a leading corporate citizen but in giving back to the community with their focus on the preparation and maintenance of Sunburst Camptown players and by extension the Coach and club executive.
“It would be remiss of me not to make special mention of the support received from Mr. Ralph Green, President of Camptown Football Club, New York, who was instrumental in sourcing the outfits and equipment and air dashing them on behalf of the sponsor. The company wishes to express our gratitude to Mr. Green and by extension, his executives in New York for their support with Sunburst Camptown, Guyana.”
Sunburst Camptown are the defending GFA/Banks DIH knock-out champions and the new equipment has come at the ideal time, the club brushed aside Essequibo in their opening game sounding a warning to all pretenders that they are going all out to retain the championship.
Boyce reminded that the Continental Group of Companies under the Sunburst brand stands fully behind Camptown in their quest to retain the crown.
Responding on behalf of the club, President Bond expressed gratitude to CEO Puri and Mr. Boyce for the confidence they have shown in the club noting that the Company has been sponsoring Camptown for a number of years but there would have been a period of inactivity.
Bond noted that it was as a result of the consistent efforts of Mr. Boyce that the relationship is back up and running for the better.
“Mr. Boyce has played an instrumental role in bringing us back together again, we sat down, and I must also mention Mr. Toussaint Boyce who also sat down with us and we fleshed out the details of what the club wanted from Continental and what Continental wanted from the club. We both realized that it was beyond Club so to speak, that football and youngsters from the Campbellville community and from across Guyana could benefit from the initiative of Continental.”
Bond also noted that Continental has also been sponsoring other sports including motor racing and the current Linden Amateur Basketball Association Under-17 Inter Secondary School competition.
“It does not happen often in Guyana where you see a company giving so much to sports. So I must say to Continental that we are happy to be on board, we are happy to make our commitment to you and will wear our uniforms and brand proudly so that we are worthy of the name of the sponsor.”
In an effort to professionalize the operations at Sunburst Camptown, Bond disclosed that the entire Technical Staff and Players receive a stipend, this, the President noted is the start of bigger things to come in the near future.
Among the equipment handed over were two sets of complete Sunburst branded uniforms, boots, shin guards, two sets of complete goalkeeper uniforms, 25 water bottles, game and practice balls, ball bags, travelling polo shirts and another set of hose compliments of Mr. Boyce.
