The City Inn Suites and Inter City Taxi Service of Line Path, Skeldon, Corriverton, Berbice has teamed up with the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) to sponsor the Upper Corentyne Inter Primary School Ten10 tape ball competition.
The tournament will feature ten schools in the Upper Corentyne Area. At a simple presentation ceremony that took place on Friday last at the City Inn Suites, Proprietor Mr. Krishnand Jaichand, who is also the President of the Upper Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (UCCC) and an Executive member of the UCCA said that he was very pleased to be a part of what he described as ‘bring back the passion of cricket’ in the younger generation in the Upper Corentyne area.

The businessman stated that he hopes that one day in the near future one of the kids that will be participating in the competition will play for Berbice, Guyana and even the West Indies.
UCCA President, Mr. Dennis De Andrade in receiving the sponsorship cheque, valued at $110,000 used the opportunity to thank Mr. Jaichand for his contribution while encouraging other business entities to follow suit.
The competition which has been approved by the Ministry of Education will commence on Friday October 18, 2013 at the Crabwood Creek Ground with first round matches involving Crabwood Creek, Skeldon and Corriverton Primary schools beginning at 12:00hrs.
The UCCA Executives also took the opportunity to encourage all parents, especially those living within close proximity of the ground to come out and support the young kids and be a part of a new era of cricket development in the Upper Corentyne.
