Three schools registered wins on opening day in the Ministry of Culture,
A section of the school children that participated in opening day action at the National Park.
Youth & Sport (MCYS), National Sports Commission (NSC), Ministry of Education (MoE), GT&T & Al Sport & Tour Promotions (ASTP) 15th Annual Regional End of School Year Windball Cricket Championships which got underway on Monday, at the National Park.
The teams recording victories were Redeemer Primary, Grahams Hall & F.E Pollard.
In the first game, Graham’s Hall beat debutants Marian Academy by 5 runs.
Taking first strike, Graham’s Hall reached 49-1 with Melelek Watson hitting 30.
Needing 50 to win, Marian Academy ended on 44-4.
In the next game, F.E Pollard scraped home by 4 runs against Tucville.
F.E Pollard who was returned to the competition after a 5-year absence batted first and scored 52-1, with Joseph Mc Almont 25, Denzel Ross 12.
Tucville in reply was restricted to 48-4 with Jami Hinds 10, being the principal scorer.
D. Ross came back with the ball to capture 3-6.
St. Ambrose then went down to Redeemer by 10 wickets.
St. Ambrose made 59. Redeemer in reply, closed on 61 without loss.
Meanwhile, play was set to continue yesterday in Region #6 at the Skeldon Community Centre for schools in the Upper Corentyne zone.
