Airbenders started the game on even keel with the league leaders, stringing together constructive build-ups but failing to execute in the final quarter of the field. The Hikers typical style of fast-paced counter-attack excited the crowd with several near-misses before young Aroydy Branford put his team ahead with a clinical display in the 26th minute. Powerful Randy Hope, who rattled the top bar in an earlier attempt, eventually breached the goalkeeper with a humdinger that sent his team a 2 up on the half time whistle.
The Airbenders changed gears and their constructive attacking play saw Maria Munroe and Trisha Woodroffe creating several chances in the second half. However, they appeared vulnerable to the counter-attack and dexterity the young Hikers and Aroydy Branford, the leading goal scorer in the tournament solidified his position with a further two goals in the 46th and 49th minutes after counterattacks.
The Hikers are on 9 points while All Greys are just behind on 6 with GCC and Old Fort on 3 points apiece. Saints and the Airbenders are yet to score. The tournament continues next Monday March 26 with GCC taking on the Airbenders at
