Venezuela authorities have arrested a Guyanese and seized seven kilos of cocaine
Venezuelan lawmen with the three prisoners and the seized items.
during routine patrols in Piacoa, in the state of Amacuro Delta.
According to the www.correodelcaroni.com news website, representatives of Guardia Nacional Bolivariana (GNB) were involved in the operations in which the men were stopped while in a green boat on the Orinoco River.
It is believed that the boat was headed to San Felix, another area.
The GNB officials were said to be in the area to help reduce the incidence of fuel and drug trafficking.
The name of the Guyanese man was given as Shawn Anderson while a companion with him was said to be Amadi Ohuonu Charles, a Nigerian national.
The men had US$15,000 in their possession which police believed were illegally obtained.
The cocaine was hidden in a coffee pot and in chocolates.
Charges are expected shortly.
