Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club’s Robin Persaud notched up another exciting win when he carted off the top spot in the senior category of the 3rd Dr. Chase, Seven Seas, Nature Valley sponsored CARICOM 50-mile road race held on the West Demerara yesterday.

Persaud, who triumphed in a 3-way sprint to the finish line, took victory in One Hour 54 Minutes 43 Seconds; Linden’s Andrew Reece had to settle for 2nd with veteran Raymond ‘Steely’ Newton (Roraima Bikers Club) copping 3rd. Rounding out the top six positions were Enzo Matthews (Continental Cycle Club) and the RBC pair of Albert Philander and Alonzo Greaves.
Making a clean sweep of the junior category was the Continental Cycle Club trio of Paul De Nobrega, Raynauth Jeffery and Kurt La Rose in that order.
Jude Bentley won the upright category in One Hour 25 minutes 46 Seconds with Richard Charles 2nd and Kester Croal 3rd.
The top veteran was Shameer Baksh who was followed to the line by Kennard Lovell and Bochel Samaroo. Naiomi Singh was the lone female competitor while Walter Isaacs took the trophy for being the first Over-60 ride to finish.

She applauded the athletes for the disciplined and competitive nature of the race while encouraging them to always aim to be the best. Also assisting with the presentation of prizes were Karen Connell Product Specialist for Seven Seas and Dr. Chase; Nickalva Washington Product Specialist General Hill Nature Valley and Michelle Bowen Promoter.
