Dead men identified in Matthews Ridge accident

Three men identified as Leon Abrams, 62, and Trevor Abrams, 19, both of Matthew’s Ridge, Northwest District; and Deon Baptiste of Port Kaituma, Northwest District, Region One, died as a result of a vehicular accident that occurred about 17:00 hrs Sunday.
According to a Police press release the driver, Godfrey Austin, of motor lorry GMM 2716 was proceeding along the roadway when he lost control of the vehicle as he was negotiating a turn which caused it to turn over.
The three along with other passengers, Neil Albert, Roy Lamaison, and Burtley Grant were rushed to the Matthew’s Ridge Hospital. They were pronounced dead on arrival while the others are receiving medical attention.
Reports state that some of the passengers were pinned beneath the lumber and an All-Terrain Vehicle, which were in the truck at the time.
The vehicle is owned by an Arakaka businessman.
