Army corporal in police custody for fraud
Woman corporal Stacy Sampson of the Guyana Defence Force is currently in police custody following the discovery of a major fraud in the Army’s finance department.
This newspaper was told that the woman over a period has been utilizing the allowances for other ranks proceeding on leave instead of paying them.
The fraud was uncovered after some soldiers on leave decided to make enquires about their monies.
The matter was reported to army officials who held a trial within the army before handing her over to the police. The amount of money has not yet been determined.
