Stabroek X1 beat Freddy X1 in feature softball match

Bissesar’s century in vain in Shop Rite Grocery sponsored game
Despite an aggressive century from Seenaught Bissesar, Stabroek Market XI still managed to pull off a comfortable 61-run win over Freddy XI in the Shop Rite Grocery sponsored 25-over softball match contested on Wednesday evening at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda.
Bissesar smashed 7 sixes and 4 spanking boundaries in his 113, but his team managed 180 all out in the penultimate over after Stabroek Market XI had earlier piled up 241-7 from their allotted 25 overs.
Vishaul Charran (20) was the only other batsman to make an impression with the bat for the losers.
Amrit Jairam, Timur Mohamed and Ravi Narine picked up 2 wickets apiece, delivering for the champion side.
Stabroek Market XI’s innings was built around several meaningful performances. Mohamed led the way with a cameo 46, which included 4 maximums and 2 fours. He got support from Dhanny Narayan 43, Jairam 41, Narine 29, skipper Ryan Boodhoo 23 and Wasim Haslim 20.
Charran and Randy Ramroop were the chief wicket-takers with two scalps apiece for Freddy XI.
The winning team and man-of-the-match Bissesar received a trophy each, compliments of Shop Rite Grocery of Stabroek Market. The two teams are expected to meet again shortly at the same venue.
