Digicel hosts FIFA World Cup 2010 initiative in Kwakwani

Digicel continued its Blackberry awareness drive by hosting Grand Futsal and Pee-Wee Basketball tournaments in Kwakwani over the past weekend.
These activities were done to create the atmosphere in preparation for FIFA World Cup, 2010 and share knowledge on Blackberry devices and its benefits.
According to Sales Manager Dwayne Scott, the Company have already visited a number of outlying communities such as Anna Regina – Essequibo, Rose Hall – Berbice, Mackenzie – Linden, Mahdia, Port Kaituma, Lethem, Aruca, Santa Rosa, while other activities are planned for the rest of the Soccer Season.
Among the activities that were planned included Skills Test, Penalty shoot outs, dove offs, cocktails, dinners, and parties, with each venue attracting a different initiative best suited for the community.
Scott said that Digicel welcomed and appreciated the involvement of all the communities in the initiative and will be working those communities again in the future.
Meanwhile, REO of Kwakwani Devon Bremner speaking with Kaieteur Sport via telephone said that the entire community was supportive of the initiative of Digicel, adding that even though he has just been in the area for two months, the word is that the Company has already done a lot and promised more assistance in the future.
“They’ve painted the basketball court and adds to its maintenance and right now I’m about to prepare a budget to send to them for further assistance,” Bremner said.
He disclosed that Digicel have shown the willingness to assist the community and have been doing a lot.
Meanwhile, Kwakwani Park defeated Waterfront 1-0 in the 5-a-side football competition.
