Digicel 20/20 football well received at Lethem

Digicel, Proud sponsor of Football, has reason to indeed be proud after receiving much kudos from residents of the Lethem area.
Last weekend the cell phone service provider sponsored a 7-a-side 20/20 football extravaganza with saw teams battling for 10 minute per half in the initial stages and 20 minutes per half in the latter stages at the Lethem Community Centre ground, which was organised by Snatchers Football Club. Ten area teams competed in the event which saw attractive cash prizes on offer. The many persons in attendance did not go away empty handed, receiving Digicel giveaways and they expressed appreciation for Digicel’s outreach to their community. The Lethem residents also expressed the hope that Digicel play a part in upcoming Amerindian Heritage celebrations later this year.
In the tournament, Tabatinga ‘B’ team overcame Gladiators 2-1 in a penalty shootout in the final after the game meandered to a stalemate in regulation and extra time, to claim the trophy and $80,000 first prize on offer. Gladiators took away $50,000 for their efforts and Tabatinga ‘A’, who finished third collected $30,000.
Several Digicel officials including Business Development Manager Gavin Hope and Shondell Reece, Retail and Sales Executive along with Region 9 authorised dealer Dwright Coates were on hand for the action and presentation.
