– ex-cop detained
By Latoya Giles
A 29-year old woman sustained a fractured skull, a broken nose, and other injuries on Friday night after a former policeman allegedly beat her with a rolling pin.
The victim, Trady Williams, of West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, is thanking the Almighty for helping her to survive the ordeal.
Police have since detained a male associate of the woman in connection with the alleged attack.
Williams, a mother of three, alleged that the suspect inflicted the beating after seeing her in a taxi.
Her face horribly swollen and her head bandaged, Williams described her seven year association with the suspect as a turbulent one.
One incident reached the courts and a magistrate placed them on a bond to keep the peace.
“He swore before the magistrate that he would change his life style, but he never did,” she said.
Williams said that her ordeal began on Friday after yet another argument.
The woman said she went to a relative’s home and returned home in a taxi shortly before midnight.
She alleged that she was just about to enter her bed when the man entered the bedroom and began to beat her with a rolling pin.
The badly-injured woman said she managed to run away but collapsed in her front yard.
She claimed that the assailant stood over her and continuously struck her in the face. The irate man also struck her with a large brick.
The woman was rescued by neighbours who witnessed the vicious and cowardly act. It took four males to restrain the woman’s assailant.
Williams was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where doctors quickly tended to her injuries, which included a wound to the face which carries about ten stitches.
The suspect was taken into custody and he is presently being detained at the East Ruimveldt Outpost.
