The war of words between locally based pugilist Orlan ‘Pocket Rocket’ Rogers continues. The ‘Pocket Rocket’ who fights out of the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym in New Amsterdam Berbice is peeved that Elton ‘Collie Bully’ Dharry is in the Country and is not fighting him.
Speaking with this newspaper from his training based in New Amsterdam Berbice the diminutive Rogers said that Dharry’s presence in the county simply illustrates what he was talking about before. “Despite his idle boast the man is afraid of me he is no bully he is a chicken.” “When he should have come to fight me last month he behave like a fowl and had a barrage of excuses.” Rogers continued, “He was ill, the purse wasn’t right, he wasn’t feeling good; his eyes were bad the place was too cold, the negotiations weren’t complete, the excuses were endless.” Delivering a verbal broadside on his rival, Rogers asked, “How all of a sudden when he learnt that he is fighting somebody he could hop on a plane and be here? Its funny, in just a matter of a few weeks everything change and the man is here to do some kind of battle with a new comer.”
“I didn’t think I wanted to go and see the fight, but I might as well travel to Georgetown and stay close by in case the new comer guy cannot make it, I might be call to step in the ring and dish out a licking on this chicken bully. I am well prepared for anything.”
Rogers also chided the sport’s authorities, stating, “Imagine I travel from Berbice the last time only to learn that Dharry is not coming and no body could have said any thing. Only to learn in a Kaieteur Newspaper article of Dharry’s many excuses, the board was mum.”
Continuing his verbal assault and not afraid to mince words, Rogers said, “He said he beat me the last time, but every one saw what happen in that fight. He was given it by some accommodating officials, who probably wanted to be hospitable. I was all over this guy.”
“After dodging me since 2004 I was over confident and he caught me with a few lucky blows and for some strange reason the referee stopped the fight. They didn’t stop it when I was beating him like a snake. He is no bully he is a lucky, chicken.”
“If you are so confident that you beat me and can beat me anytime, why not come and fight. How come when you were to fight me you cannot come, when it’s somebody else you are here? Funny, real funny,” the agitated Rogers said.
“He can probably stick around and let’s do something under any deal; we can even go back and fight under his bed, if is too hot here or the mosquitoes will bother him.”
Rogers plans to leave the judges out of any future contest with Dharry and plans to let his fists do the talking.
