Dear Editor,
I read Freddie Kissoon’s article on his bewilderment at Prem Misir and Randy Persaud’s apparent lack of morality and ethics and their craving for visibility in the independent newspapers.
I recently witnessed an exchange in conversation between a high ranking government Guyanese official and a university student in New York.
The question asked: “How can you live in Guyana and feel good about yourself while the rest of the country suffers?”
The answer: “What is happening in Guyana is a political, social and economic reality. It is not a moral question. I am not my brother’s keeper.”
Prem and Randy are opportunists. They know they have to break the rules and distort the truth to effectively do their jobs.
They were chosen for these positions because their contempt for and their arrogance towards the Guyanese people was evident to the man who hired them.
They lack empathy. Their jobs are to simply destroy the credibility of anyone who opposes the regime’s policies.
The Chronicle is not “The Meeting Place” for Guyanese at home and abroad. Kaieteur News and SN collectively own that venue.
These men cannot resist being in the limelight. It is simply not enough that they are in positions of power, they need public adulation. They can’t get it at the Chronicle. Narcissism lives in Guyana too Freddie.
If the PPP retains power in the 2011 elections under a new leader with a different agenda these very same quacks will transform themselves into whatever form is necessary to retain their positions.
What I don’t understand is what principle compels the independent dailies to print the propaganda these men write.
The regime publicly wishes that these newspapers would simply go away. Mark Jewel
