Komal and Mangal All Stars defeated Good Success invitational XI by 1 run to win the Anand Sanasie trophy in a feature 40 overs cricket match played on Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Centre Ground in Good Success.
Komal and Mangal All Stars won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 221 all out in 34 overs after the game was reduced to 35 overs, due to excessive preparation moisture in the pitch.
Essequibo middle order batsman Navishaul Pooran top scored with 70 (4×4, 4×6) while national U-15 player Ricardo Adams made 50 (4×4,3×60 and skipper Komal Persaud 31.
Medium pacer Chandreka Ragnauth took 3-28, left arm spinner Moin Khan 2-47, Vickram Ramnarine 2-34 and former Essequibo u-19 player Dinanauth Doodnauth 2-34 for the host.
Good Success invitational XI responded with 220 all out in 35 overs.
Nandcoomar Boodram led with 49 (4×4,3×6) while opener Shamsudeen Mohamed made 48 (5×4). Shorab Ali 34(5×4) and Chandreka Ragnauth 20.
Medium pacer Brian Pooran grabbed 2-34 while there was a wicket each for K. Mangal, Ricardo Adams and R. Sahadeo as five of the home team batsmen were run out.
Navishaul Pooran, who also plays for Zeelandia SC in Wakenaam, took the best player award for the visitors while Shorab Ali received the trophy for best Good Success player. Komal and Mangal All Star took the winning trophy.
