A West Demerara goldsmith was relieved of $1M in jewellery and $300,000 cash by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun around 16:30 hours yesterday.
The incident occurred at New Road, Vreed en-Hoop outside the home of goldsmith Anand Cheddie.
According to the police, Cheddie was about to enter his premises when he was confronted by a man armed with a handgun.
The man held him up and took away a bag from his motor vehicle which contained the jewellery and cash.
The gunman was subsequently joined by a second man and they both escaped in a waiting motor vehicle driven by a third accomplice.
The matter was reported but so far no one has been arrested.
