A 23-year-old baker was yesterday remanded by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, at the Georgetown Magistrates Court.
It was alleged that Colin Blackman, called “Denny”, of 41 Roxanne Burnham Gardens, on July 1 at Middle Road, drove his motorcycle in a dangerous manner and killed Radyah Escorees. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was unrepresented in court.
According to the defendant on the night in questioned he never really saw the deceased and was gravely sorry for what he did.
Police prosecutor Denise Griffith asked that bail be refused since more charges are expected to be laid against the defendant.
The prosecutor explained that the defendant is likely to be charged for driving without a licence and for breach of insurance.
Griffith also asked that the matter be transferred to another court for today. He was remanded and is expected to make another court appearance today.
Reports indicate that the deceased was crossing the road at the time of the accident when she was struck down by the defendant.
She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she succumbed while awaiting medical attention.
