I once wrote on this page that if there is a type of person I hate in life and in this world, it is the anonymous writer who uses extremist language, vicious semantics, insulting sentences, dirty descriptions and nasty adjectives in the most generalized way to attack real, living persons.
Nothing in the world of knowledge can justify that. These are offensive, stupid people who have no right to be part of modern culture. Start a blog if you want on arts, literature, music, politics, business topics, and educate people by sharing your views under your name.
If you are going to attack public figures, do it analytically. If you launch into people with personal invectives, they are going to go after you. Why would you want to write a column, start a blog and refer to Mr. Corbin, President Jagdeo, Ministers of the Government, commentators, businessmen using expletives and scatological nouns and you do so hiding under your mother’s dress .
Why do you want to attack Mr. Jagdeo from under your mommy’s skirt? Modern society should not tolerate you. This country cries out for internet legislation to ferret out these hidden perverts.
It is interesting to know that most of the cuss-out anonymous bloggers are very scared people who would die if they are exposed. There was the recent incident in which the police were interested in ascertaining who the people were that posted on a blog named “Living Guyana.”
When it became known who some of them were, these gentlemen were near to a nervous breakdown. One of them immediately contacted his lawyer. Another one asked me what I think the Government will do to him.
Here were these cuss-down gentlemen who said the most unspeakable things about hundreds of real Guyanese and when they were about to be exposed, were on the brink of a mental breakdown. Guess why? The entire country, their families and relatives would have known about their cowardice and dirty minds.
So scared they were that they demolished the site after the police moved in. A few of my colleagues at Kaieteur News told me that one of them has come out from under his mother’s bloomers and is now using his real name on a blog he has started.
One hopes that the same time he emerged from under his mom’s petticoat he took his mind out of the gutter. I would like to name at least four of the persons on Living Guyana but if they sue the paper, I would not have the technical resources to prove who they are. We do know that the site was patronized by a respectable restaurant owner. I thought that it was very incongruous on his part to be associated with that site.
The relationship was mystifying because “Living Guyana” was really dirty and did not do anything to enhance the image of his business. But the truth is 99 percent of his patrons probably didn’t know about “Living Guyana.”
The Government of course showed it has the stupidest set of politicians in the world by answering “Living Guyana” with its own anonymous version. This site (which will remain unnamed) has descended to the most despicable levels by introducing pornography in its attack on the opposition parties.
The question of anonymity and cowardice brings us to Dr. Leslie Ramsammy. Asked by the Stabroek News to comment on the mention of his name by Roger Khan’s lawyer, Mr. Simels, who has been caught on tape through wire-tapping, Dr. Ramsammy did not hide behind his secretary. He had the courage to respond to the newspaper.
We may not like what he said (he does not know why Mr. Simels called his name) but he faced the media. Try getting most, if not all PPP leaders and the Ministers to give you an opinion of an unfolding matter and they put their secretary in front to say they are not there.
I tried for an entire day to get a comment from the Minister of Education, Mr. Shaik Baksh, on whether Mae’s School could pre-emptorily expel a student, but the man is still evading me. I met him on the seawall the other day and was about to call him a coward but my wife gave me a stern look as the words were about to come out of my mouth.
Dr. Ramsammy did not hide under his mom’s long gown. He faced the media on a very sensitive issue. Can Mr. Jagdeo tell us the names of the persons that would have built the Kingston Hotel? Ooops! That should be the Marriott Hotel.
