Milerock and Blueberry Hill United will clash in the final of the Linden Town Week football tournament this evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
In semi-final rivalry on Tuesday night at the same venue, Blueberry Hill edged Eagles 1-0 while Milerock came from behind to beat Bakewell Topp XX 3-1.
Blueberry Hill’s winning goal was scored by Royston Fraser in the 45th minute.
Milerock, the 2008 Upper Demerara Football Association champions, proved that they are no pushover, remaining resolute throughout their clash with a former UDFA titlist and the most successful team in the highly-rated Kashif and Shanghai tournament.
Topp XX eased into the lead in the 26th minute compliments of a Keon Sears effort – an advantage they enjoyed until the 61st minute when Kevin Layne equalized for Milerock, the first of a double. Layne’s second, six minutes later, handed Milerock the lead and they never looked back.
Sean Henry put the game beyond the reach of Topp XX in the 80th minute.
Tonight’s action kicks off at 18:00hrs with the third place playoff between Eagles and Topp XX.
