Hands over 18 6-peg bootsPele Football Club on Friday received a timely contribution of six peg boots which would serve them in good stead in their quest to finally win the ever eluding Kashif and Shanghai Football tournament which kicks off this evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground.
Friends of Pele’, which is made up of supporters locally and overseas, donated 18 pairs of six pegs Nike soccer shoes to the team after their practice session at the National Park.
President of the club Cecil Jacques, a former national goalkeeper while commending ‘Friends of Pele’ noted that the type of soccer shoes is exactly what is needed for play in the current rainy weather.
“We are more than grateful to these friends for this donation which also helps to lift the morale of the team and give them the right tools to perform the job of taking us to our first ever title.”
Pele faces Upper Demerara’s Milerock in the feature game this evening in Linden, the first bringing together five-time champions, Bakewell Topp XX and Rusal.
