Yesterday, some of the staff members of the Guyana Chronicle had planned protest action over a wage increase. Their protest fell short when, at 12:00 hours (the agreed time for the protest action to start), none of the staffers turned out.
Speaking with some of the Chronicle staffers, Kaieteur News was told that while there were some problems over wages, and a circular informing persons of the protest had been passed around the newspaper’s office, the problems had been resolved.
One of the Chronicle staffers explained that the wage problem had been “worked out,” and he said that all of the newspaper’s workers had resumed work as per normal.
